While googling for the elusive (lyrics to Embarcacao, and that translated from the Portuguese), I stumbled upon the music video, which was equally worth mention, I thought.
"Embarcação" - Kayah and Cesaria Evora - kewego
So here it is. Little Fish was blogging recently about unlikely duets. Although not in little fish's genre, Cape Verdean Cesaria Evora (one of my first long time loves) with Polish Kayah makes it for unlikely, I think. And successful as well, Embarcacao is still, to date, one of the steamiest songs I've ever heard. It's intoxicating, and makes one feel like dancing.
If you have the lyrics, in Portuguese or better yet, in English - I could fall in love with you. These lyrics are another kunefe thing for me.

hi.I'm in love with the song to, but unfortunately ( don't know why) I could't find the lyrics :(
Cesaria Evora and Kayah deliberately do not want to release the lyrics to that song, which is unfortunate, because it has piqued my curiosity and it's such a beautiful song.
yeah, i got addicted to it strait away! i will learn it even if i just have to listen to words and memorise it that way....
Cesaria Evora feat. Kayah
"Embarcacao"
Ai, ness mundo ca tem sô sofrimento
Ma naquel olhar cheio di mágoa
Modê crê tão cedo na felecidade
Tcheu titá fogá na solidão
Ma na embarcação quta levá nôs vida
Um bom timonero nô ta desejá, pa guiá-no

Thank you so much Agnieshka... this is a rare and wonderful gift!
I'm glad I could help :) I have somewhere lyrics in Polish but unfortunately not in English. Words of this song are beautiful. Pure poetry. I listen this song almost every day... oh and those voices!
Hello. Also, I am one more in love with this marvelous song and video by Cesaria and Kayah.
Well, in fact it is not sang in Portuguese but in a dialect from Cabo Verde that mixes Portuguese and some local worls and accents, and sometimes it is difficult even for me, a Portuguese speaker to undrestand.
It's quite difficult to translate it into English and not lose some of the subtle poetry that it carries, but I have tryed it so you can undrestand a little of what they are saying in this so deep song. I hope you like it.
The Vessel
Oh, in this world here there is only suffering
But in that stare full of sadness
For believing so soon in happiness
Something that is drowning in deep loneliness
But in the vessel that takes our lives
We hope for a good helmsman to take us
Through the storm and pull down our sails
So we will not be lost in the deepness of a sorrow
The desired land seen so far is a sweet promise
But it is not making no difference
Because a dream is born in the port of illusions
Fly away to a far place seems to be a solution
But in the uncertain route that is our fate
We are putting our hopes on a sweet and constant breeze
That blows the sails of our existence
And so in peace takes our vessel
Towards a horizon full of light and peaceful feelings
That blows the sails of our existence
And so in peace takes our vessel
Towards a horizon full of light and peaceful feelings
Best regards!
Thank you so much!! This the best transcription/translation of the lyrics I have ever come across on the web, and I have been looking!! It is a truly beautiful and deep song...
